Connect SignBlink to Zapier or Make

Link SignBlink to thousands of apps — Slack, Instagram, Google Sheets, forms and more — with ready-made recipes.

Zapier and Make connect apps without code. With them, SignBlink can work with thousands of apps both ways:

  • SignBlink → other apps. SignBlink sends an event when a screen goes offline or comes back, an alert goes up or ends, or screens are published. Use it to message Slack or Teams, text someone, or log it in a spreadsheet.
  • Other apps → SignBlink. Another app's event can send an alert, put a new photo on your screens, or switch what a screen plays, through the SignBlink API.

Recipe: a Slack message when a screen goes offline

  1. In Zapier, make a Zap. For the trigger, choose Webhooks by Zapier → Catch Hook, and copy the address it gives you.
  2. In SignBlink, account owners go to Settings → API → Webhooks → Add a webhook. Paste the address, turn off All events, and tick Screen offline and Screen back online.
  3. Choose Send test in SignBlink, then Test trigger in Zapier.
  4. Add the action Slack → Send Channel Message. For the message, use the event's fields, for example: Screen offline: {{data screen name}} ({{data screen location}}).
  5. Turn the Zap on.

In Make, use Webhooks → Custom webhook as the first module instead, then any Slack module.

Recipe: put new Instagram posts on your screens

  1. In SignBlink, create an API key with Full access (Settings → API), and open the playlist you want posts in. Its id is the part of the address after /playlists/, starting pl_.
  2. In Zapier, start with Instagram for Business → New Media Posted.
  3. Add Webhooks by Zapier → POST:
    • URL: https://app.signblink.com/api/v1/media
    • Payload type: json, with a field url set to the post's Media URL.
    • Header Authorization: Bearer followed by a space and your API key.
  4. Add another Webhooks by Zapier → POST:
    • URL: https://app.signblink.com/api/v1/playlists/ followed by your playlist's id and /items
    • Fields: type = media, refId = the media id from the previous step, durationSec = 10, position = start, publish = true.
    • The same Authorization header.
  5. Turn the Zap on. New posts go to the front of the playlist and onto your screens.

Recipe: send an alert from another system

Use this to put up an alert from a form, a panic button app or an incident tool.

  1. Make a Zap (or Make scenario) with whatever should trigger it.
  2. Add Webhooks by Zapier → POST to https://app.signblink.com/api/v1/alerts with your API key in the Authorization header and these fields:
    • style: emergency, warning or info
    • title: the headline
    • body: what people should do
    • allScreens: true
  3. To end it later, POST to https://app.signblink.com/api/v1/alerts/ followed by the alert's id and /end.

Recipe: log every alert in a Google Sheet

  1. Trigger: Webhooks by Zapier → Catch Hook; in SignBlink add the address as a webhook for Alert sent and Alert ended.
  2. Action: Google Sheets → Create Spreadsheet Row, with columns for the event type, the alert's title, and the time.

Good to know

  • Events arrive within seconds. If the address doesn't answer, SignBlink retries for about 10 hours, and pauses a webhook after 10 events fail in a row. Resume it in Settings → API.
  • Deliveries beside each webhook shows what was sent and what came back.
  • Developers can check each event really came from SignBlink with its signature: see webhooks in the API docs.
