Designer basics
Text, photos, shapes, stickers, animations and effects — how to make and polish a design.
SignBlink's designer makes screens that look sharp on any TV. Open any design from Content, or make a new one with Create a design.
Adding things
The bar down the left (along the bottom on phones) adds things to your design:
| Button | What's in it |
|---|---|
| Text | Headings and body text in dozens of fonts, or your own (see Use your own brand fonts) |
| Media | Your photos and videos, plus free stock photos and videos |
| Shapes | Rectangles, circles, lines, glows and icons |
| Stickers | Over 2,000 3D stickers and emoji |
| Widgets | Clocks, weather, calendars, sports, menus, news, QR codes, YouTube and more. See Clocks, weather, sports and news widgets |
| Effects | Snow, confetti, sparkles, falling leaves, fireworks, and moving backgrounds like a flowing gradient or a slow-zoom photo |
| Background | Colors, gradients, photos and the screen shape |
| Templates | Swap to another template |
Editing
- Click something to select it; its options appear on the right (in a panel on phones).
- Drag to move, and drag the corners to resize. Double-click a photo or video to swap it.
- Layers shows everything in the design, so you can reorder, hide or lock items.
- Undo and Redo are at the top, and your changes save automatically.
Saved versions and recovery
Choose History at the top, or More → Saved versions on a phone, to preview and restore earlier work. SignBlink keeps up to 50 versions from the last 30 days and groups frequent autosaves. Restoring makes a new version and keeps the version being replaced. Photos used by saved versions are retained during that period; restoring also recovers any of those photos that are in Trash.
Restored designs in ordinary playlists reach TVs when you publish. Designs used outside screen hours refresh live, so restoring one can change those screens immediately. Your normal publishing permissions still apply.
If a connection fails or you close the editor before saving, SignBlink also keeps a draft on that browser for up to 14 days. Reopen the same design with the same account to recover it. Drafts are cleared when you sign out and can be unavailable if browser storage is blocked or cleared.
If a teammate or another tab saves first, SignBlink pauses your saves instead of overwriting their changes. Choose Keep my changes as a copy, or Load saved version to discard your unsaved edits and open the latest version.
Animation
Select an item and open Animate to choose how it comes in (Entrance), what it does While showing (like float, pulse, glow or a slow zoom), and how it leaves (Exit). Use Delay to bring items in one after another. Select several items and choose Animate these, one after another for a quick cascade.
Check before you publish
The Design check button at the top flags things that look fine on your computer but not on a TV across the room: text that doesn't fit its box, colors too close to read, QR codes too small to scan, empty photo boxes, and widgets that still need setting up.
Choose Preview to see it exactly as it will look on the TV, animations included.
Screen shape
Under Background → Screen shape, choose landscape or portrait, or Other shape for unusual screens like long menu strips or a video wall.
Download, print or share
The download button makes a PNG, a 4K PNG, a JPG or a print-ready PDF of the design. Share a copy sends a link someone can add to their own SignBlink account. See Share a design with someone.
Publishing
The designer's Publish button saves the design and sends it to the screens that show it. If no screen shows it yet, SignBlink offers to add it to a screen's playlist. See Publishing — getting changes onto your screens.
