How SignBlink works
Screens, content, playlists and publishing — the four ideas behind everything in SignBlink.
SignBlink puts menus, offers, announcements and photos on the TVs in your business, and lets you change them from your phone or computer. Everything you do comes down to four ideas.
Screens
A screen is one TV in SignBlink. Each TV needs a small player to run SignBlink: a Fire TV Stick, a Raspberry Pi, a Windows mini PC, or just the TV's own web browser. When you connect a player, the TV shows a 6-character code; you type that code into SignBlink and the TV becomes one of your screens.
Once connected, a screen remembers your account and keeps playing even if your internet drops. See Which player should I use? to pick a player.
Content
Content is what your screens show: photos, videos, PDFs, designs you make in SignBlink's designer, YouTube videos and web pages. It all lives under Content, and music lives under Music.
Playlists
A playlist is the order your content plays in, and how long each item stays on screen. Each screen has a main playlist. You can also schedule other playlists for certain times, like a lunch menu on weekdays from 11 to 2. One playlist can play on many screens.
Publishing
Changes you make are saved as a draft first, so you can work on them without the TVs changing halfway through. When you're happy, choose Publish. Each screen downloads the update and confirms it, and you can see the moment every TV has it.
Putting it together
- Connect a TV: Set up your first screen.
- Add something to show: Put something on your screen.
- Put it in a playlist and choose that playlist for your screen: Playlists.
