Touch screens and interactive kiosks

Turn anything in a design into a button that opens another page, changes slide or opens a web page.

On a touch screen, any text, shape, photo or sticker in a design can be a button. While someone is using the screen, the playlist waits; it carries on after they stop.

The quickest start: the Touch kiosk

Go to Content → Create a design and choose Touch kiosk. It makes four linked designs: a welcome page and three pages its buttons open. Change the words and photos, then put the welcome page in your screen's playlist and publish.

Make your own buttons

  1. In the designer, select the item you want people to tap.
  2. Under When someone taps it, choose what happens:
    • Open another design — for menus, directories or "more info" pages. New blank page makes and links a new design in one step.
    • Go to the next slide or Go to the previous slide in the playlist.
    • Go back to the playlist.
    • Open a web page — full screen, with a Close button. Use a full address starting with https://. Some sites refuse to open inside other pages.
  3. On a page people reach by tapping, set Go back after (5 to 300 seconds). When nobody has touched the screen for that long, it returns to the playlist.

Buttons work with a mouse too, so you can try them in the screen preview on the screen's page before anyone touches the real thing.

Hardware

Any touch screen that works with your player will do: a touch monitor on a Windows mini PC is the most common setup. Mount it at a comfortable height and make buttons big enough for a finger (at least the size of a large coin on the screen).
